The Hermit

Thinking about trying something new. Every now and then I will try to tell a (very) short story using only haiku to paint a picture of Halloween-ish atmosphere and emotion. This one is called "The Hermit."

That man peers out of
His second story window
To scout his victims

For just a moment
You will see his eyes glowing
Pray he won't choose you

Each night at midnight
You can hear his organ play
The town locks their doors

We've tried very hard
To get him out of our town
He's like a ghost, though

Maybe one day soon
He will leave on his own will
Until then, beware
