Take A Moment

If any of you are familiar with the Season of Shadows website, then you know about John and his incredible passion and dedication for Halloween. As of late, however, John has not been able to enjoy that passion for his favorite time of year and even life in general due to a savage medical issue that has been plaguing him.

John made a post today stating his current status and future plans. It was heartbreaking and empowering to read all at the same time. He has made a decision that many of us couldn't even imagine having to think about making.

I just wanted to make note of how much people really cared about him, even on the quite impersonal internet. I ask that you just take a moment to read his latest, and sadly his last, post and then take another moment to send him good energy, prayers, well wishes, etc. etc.

I don't know what waits for us after death, but I do know that John will be a friend of mine forever and we will hopefully meet one day, face to face, and plan for some extremely spooky and haunting Halloweens.

Happy Friday the 13th, everyone. Watch out for those black cats walking in front of you today. Or, if you live anywhere near me, the weather would indicate that you should watch out for something a little more sinister. BLACK ICE. Let's hope your unlucky day doesn't consist of this type of mayhem.

Here's A Toast

Just under two weeks away from the birthday of Mr. Poe. With expectations of the toaster making an appearance year after year, the world has been let down for the last two now. If we do not receive word of an appearance this year then it may be safe to say that the tradition is over. Without a doubt, many more copycat toasters will come and go in the future, but the real tradition may very well be dead. I'll be keeping close watch on the 19th for a trio of roses and a bottle of cognac.

So Close

Despite my lack of faith in an ancient calendar, the 2012 apocalypse theories fascinate me. I think the most intriguing thing about them is that multiple cultures from all over the world seem to come to similar conclusions on the date/time frame. As we inch closer and closer to that sure-to-be anticlimactic day, I hope 2012 treats you all well. A day late, I know, but happy new year everyone.
