Dead Fred

Anybody who visits Google today will quickly notice that it is the 50th anniversary of The Flintstones. So...

Red in October

The Cincinnati Reds officially made their way into the playoffs last night with a walk off home run. Since they will be in the October pennant race, I thought this image only appropriate.

Satin Guts

I haven't been able to find this hat anywhere, but even if you aren't in to hats you can't help but love this one. The selling point for me: the satin lining of pumpkin guts and seeds.

We March

Cattle die
kinsmen die
all men are mortal.
Words of praise
will never perish
nor a noble name.

The Spirit of Jazz

Here's a clip from the show The Mighty Boosh featuring a character called The Spirit of Jazz. Although it's a comedy bit, the spook factor is there with the background music and the appearance of the spirit himself. He would be a great "greeter" character at a haunted attraction to keep patrons in line amused and also play a creeper role.

Are You?

As a kid and even today, I think Are You Afraid of the Dark? had one of the best theme songs.
Perhaps one of the creepiest intro videos as well.

Sawtooth Grin

I have no idea where this is at or who it belongs to, but it is now one of my favorite props I've ever seen.

Décor

Love the effect this adds to our table. Simple, but looks great and it's very cool with the candle lit and the lights off.

New site theme

I just made it possible to change the theme of the site. On the right hand side you will see the option of purple or green. It should remember your choice and stay on that color for the next time you visit (unless you clear your cookies or don't allow them). You can always switch back to the other color at any time.

Both themes feature bats with different variations, but future themes will be designed with other festive entities. I plan on releasing another one right before, or early in October. Just a little something to make the site unique.

Have a good weekend.

A sign

While I was out cycling this morning I noticed, in the middle of the road and walking into the woods, a gang of turkeys. I've never actually seen wild turkeys before and it was quite the sight. They were peacefully minding their own business and it reassured me that it is my favorite season of all. Now, pumpkins and scarecrows and falling leaves are all my ideal signs of fall, but turkeys are pretty much the iconic symbolism of the autumn season to most. I wish I had a camera, or at least my phone on me, to snap a quick picture.

Magic Kingdom ready for the season

Disneyland posted a new video today which shows a time lapse of the transformation. Looks like a good time for the whole family. I can't help but play the video over and over just for the music. Here's the description from the official youtube page:

Magic Kingdom's fall transformation takes place over five days as more than 40 Cast Members dress up the park with a Halloween theme. This video features a time lapse of the fall decor installation on Main Street, U.S.A., Mickey's Country House and Town Square. After Magic Kingdom is veiled with scarecrows, Jack-O-Lanterns and haunting decor, guests are invited to trick-or-treat in their own Halloween costumes for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, an annual after-hours event that takes place on select evenings through Nov. 1.

The undead are among us!

The Walking Dead, that is. AMC has announced that The Walking Dead series will premier on Halloween night at 10pm eastern time. That's not the best news, though. The premier of the pilot episode is an astounding 90 minutes long. I am almost more excited about this than I am visiting any haunted attractions this year as I am a huge fan of the comics.

To learn more about the series and catch a glimpse of it through photos and a trailer, visit AMC's Walking Dead hub.

Mc-Or-Treat

I'm sure everybody remembers when McDonald's used to celebrate Halloween heavily. They'd play commercials themed for the season and, better yet, they provided the kids with some cool trinkets in the happy meals. It's safe to say their most famous "toy" was actually the box the meal came in when they were the Halloween candy pails for the trick-or-treaters. You know the ones I'm talking about...

Is it just me, or does it seem like most companies that aren't making money off of decorations, such as the Walmarts, Meijer, etc., aren't really promoting anything or even doing anything special for the Halloween season anymore? I'd figure companies of all types could make huge profits off of Halloween, and huge profits is all they care about.. so why not?

Sydlexia has a great, and humorous write-up about them. Photo courtesy of Sydlexia.

Back just in time

I hoped to get the new site done by September and, well, mission accomplished. I will allow comments here shortly when I am able to make them spam-proof. More pages with specialized content will be added eventually as well as the option to change the color/style of the template for the site. The season has officially begun!
