Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween! Unfortunately, I won't be able to spend the evening watching The Walking Dead premier or any other network Halloween specials. Why? Because I will be traveling to Indiana to spend the evening with Bob Dylan. I can't begin to tell you how great that makes Halloween this year for me.

Wishing you could spend the evening with "Uncle Bobby" tonight as well? In a way, you can. Simply by downloading his Theme Time Radio Hour special for Halloween. Dylan hosts the show and plays music with Halloween themes and gives commentary throughout. It's one of my favorite media bits on my hard drive.

So, I hope you have a hauntingly happy Halloween. Enjoy the day and don't blow out that jack before midnight. I think Sam said that. If you want to comment, go on ahead. I said that.

Halloween Picnik

Google has a special tool called "Picnik" for you to spice up your photos in a Halloweenish way. I haven't tried it, but apparently it's super easy and requires very little effort on the user's part. So, if you're not exactly an ace with Photoshop or you just want to make a quick Halloween card, Google is, once again, the answer.

Charlie Blood

Here is a wonderful Halloween variation of the Peanuts' "Linus & Lucy" song, or the Charlie Brown theme song. I have been playing this over and over, all day.

Furies

One of my favorite costumes has always been the one used by the Baseball Furies in the movie "The Warriors." Easy to replicate and very appropriate considering the fall classic being at the end of October.

I'm All Out of Bubble Gum

The opening song to "They Live" is one of my all-time favorites. It enlists a western style with an eerie, October Country feel to it.

Favoritism

Do you have a favorite candy to pass out? Or, should I ask - do you have a certain candy you don't pass out to every TOTer so you can eat them later that night? I would say Snickers and Butterfinger would be mine.

The Real Deal

The History Channel will be televising their special on Halloween tomorrow night. "The Real Story of Halloween" will be on at 8:00pm ET tomorrow, October 26. I always enjoy sitting down and watching an informative program about a holiday I tend to cherish. This is no different. If you've seen it before, then it's nothing new, but it's just one of those shows you probably watch every year like myself. Unfortunately, it seems as through they aren't following it up with anything other than their normal airings of Pawn Stars.

It's All In Your Head

Amidst completing a little psychology homework, I thought about a topic for a post. The psychology behind your Halloween costume. Now, this article isn't what I would call "insightful" or even scientific, but it gets the point across that what you dress up as - is what is lying in your unconsciousness and personality. Personally, I never dress up. If I were to, however, I'd be an undead viking. For Odin! For Asgard! Here's the article.

Have No Fear

If you do not get the Hallmark Channel, then have no fear. On Halloween day, WGN America will be showing a Munsters marathon of their own from 10am-7pm ET. This might be the one to watch anyways as Alice Cooper will be the host of the marathon. I think WGN America has my viewership.

Check out the full episode line-up after the jump.

Hallmark on Halloween

The Hallmark Channel will be showing marathons of The Munsters and The Addams Family, all day long, on Halloween day. A Munsters marathon is my kind of Sunday.

For more info check out their website.

The Doc is In

Beth Robinson is the creator of some frightfully delightful dolls. My favorite is, by far, the plague doctor. I have a sort of obsession with the plague doctor aura that surrounds the creepy masks they wore.

I Would Be

Wouldn't you be disappointed as a kid knowing that trick or treat was on a Sunday night this year? The last day of weekend freedom before another Monday and another school week. Well, that's what Fort Wayne, IN is planning.
That's just the tip of the iceberg, though. Check this out:

Trick-or-treat will be observed in the city from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31.

Trick-or-treaters should visit homes with an illuminated exterior front light (porch light) indicating that trick-or-treaters are welcome, according to a written statement.

One of the safety rules is to also wear reflective clothing. Umm.... why? It will hardly be dark enough come 7 PM. I am just bothered by this because I know, as a kid, I would have truly been disappointed and bummed out about trick or treat on a Sunday and from 5-7 PM. Let the kids have some fun for one night a year, I say!

Story.

The Great Unknown

...And the three men all looked up in unison to witness the most terrifying thing to ever bestow their eyes. Emotions pulsated throughout their bodies and they realized, at that moment, things would never be the same. This thing, whatever it was - whatever it is....

This thing.

So unstoppable.

Ghost Uprising

A story about paranormal research groups in Erie, PA. It's a short report that just indicates that the rise in paranormal investigation shows such as "Ghost Adventures" and "Ghost Hunters" has, in turn, caused a rise in the local groups getting more requests to investigate.

My question for you is whether you think this is only because people are hoping to get publicity and possible TV time, or if people are now seeing the paranormal as a more acceptable thing and won't feel like they will get criticized for calling out about ghosts?

Dark Disco

In sequence with yesterday's post about the Dark Shadows theme song, I found this gem on youtube. It's a very cool disco version that is eerie and groovy all at the same time - click to enjoy.

Dark Shadows

Growing up, my dad and I always watched Dark Shadows. I remember not going to school sometimes and watching marathons of the show when it was syndicated on the Sci-Fi (Syfy) network.
One of the creepiest theme songs - click to watch.

Junkies

I just discovered these cool little trinkets from some random googling. Very cool decoration/desk pieces to add to a Halloween collection.
I am a big fan of Viking history and Norse mythology and it's killing me to know I don't have the zombie viking. The prices on these are beyond outrageous, though. Check them out here and here.

Fungiferous Flora

Mushrooms, poppies, sugar and spice
All those things are very nice
When combined, the proper mixture
Makes a getting small elixir.

Hmm... I don't really like sweets.

Orange You Glad It's October?

A new theme just went live. Select the ORANGE theme on the right to check it out. I personally find it the most fitting for October.
I'll have more themes up before too long.

Music of the Vampires

Some music to listen to with your Skullcandy headphones.
Music of the Vampires is a great collection of dark piano/organ type music by Matt Fink. I've had this disc on replay for a good year or more now.
You can listen to samples and purchase the cd at Amazon here.

Sounds of Terror

Skullcandy has some slick looking headphones with great sound.
I figured these were very Halloween-ish with the web on the inner ear and the skull logo on the outside. You can find this pair here.

October

Finally, October 1st. I will attempt to be a part of the Countdown To Halloween this year. I can't guarantee I will have a post every day, but I will try. A real post will be ready later today.
