NBC is apparently giving the revamp of The Munsters a second chance. Here's what the claim is:
This isn't your mummy's The Munsters. While the original was a half-hour sitcom about blue collar Monster-Americans, Fuller's take on The Munsters will be an edgier, slightly darker hour-long show. Fuller is expected to more deeply explore the origins of how the residents of 1313 Mockingbird Lane came to be.
Hour-long episodes? Seems like it might work, but it might also botch the whole Munsters image. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I have a feeling this will not end well. You just can not replicate chemistry like that.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Although, they've done remakes in the past that have, for lack of a better term, sucked, yet they haven't necessarily tarnished the classic version. I'm afraid the "dark" route they are going to take will make it very un-Munster like, though.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to recapture the glory of the old days, let's face it. Did anybody see the "Munsters Today" sitcom? It actually went on longer than the original, but of course it worked from the position that these were the 60's Munsters who'd been asleep for years. A remake will not have the crazy, groovy 60's vibe. Still, I miss the Munsters, so maybe it won't totally suck.
