Living quite close to a major air force base which has ties to the Roswell crash (at least according to the rumors), I tend to keep my eyes to the sky. I've yet to see anything substantially exciting, but I can't help but wonder if any of those massive cargo planes are hauling anything special or "out of the ordinary." UFOs seem more and more like a statistical absolute than a wonderful fantasy every day that passes. Every day that goes by it seems like we get sucked deeper and deeper into mundane lives that are, well, slightly predictable. Stop for a moment each day and think about the unfathomable vastness of the universe and dare to wonder what else is out there and how long it will be before the sky rips open to expose us to things we only thought a movie could invent.

Take Your Time
If you aren't aware, a lot has been happening this past week with regards to The Dark Knight Rises. It isn't set to hit theaters until July 2012, but the buzz and viral marketing is really picking up right now. To fit in with all the excitement, I found a cool image from an old Batman comic. The images of Halloween in it are simply perfect.

Lurking
Sorry about the lack of updates around here. I have something planned for the near future. You'll hear about it soon enough if things work out. In the mean time, I'll try to post a little more often.

Poof!
And it's gone. So, how was your beloved holiday this year? Mine was... well I hope yours was good. Here's a question: how long do you leave your decor up outside or inside? A couple houses around me have left them up so far and it's nice to see, but a bummer at the same time since it looks so dead (and not in a good way). Just a reminder that it's over. There's always next year, though.
Who's ready for turkey?
P.S. THANK YOU to the people who have taken some time to leave comments on the blog. Although this site has only been up for a full year, I seem to get more hits and a couple more people who leave comments each Halloween. I know I don't get around to posting comments that often on other blogs because of school and other things, but it's good knowing others are taking the time to at least check out the site. It's the only thing that makes me want to log into blogger.

Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween, everyone. I hope you all have a wonderful night of scares.
I will miss tonight's radio program of scary classical music I wrote about a few days ago. However, here is the link for the stream so you can listen. In fact, if anybody has the capability to record the stream to an audio file they could send me after it's over, I would be extremely greatful ;)
Stream link: http://www.abacast.com/media/pls/wdpr/wdpr-live-96.pls
Show starts at 6p.m. eastern and lasts until 8.

Here And Gone
This year the month of October flew by for me. With school and other activities/obligations I have had zero time to enjoy the season. I've tried, though, and that's good enough because there's always next year. Here's a couple wallpapers to make up for the missing posts this month.

Something Special
I am a fan of classical music. I can't hear a piece and tell you the composer and the symphony number, but I enjoy listening to it on occasion (especially to relax). Well, a pleasant surprise was bestowed upon me this afternoon while I was listening to the local classical radio station:
"This Halloween night, tune in to 88.1 for 2 hours of the scariest classical music we can find."
I was immediately filled with energy and happiness. That's all it takes. Small things like that. they let me know that Halloween is still important and present in a lot of people's lives and not just the hardcore fans. I love Halloween programming of any type. Anything that Halloween takes over, I'm a fan of.
I will post a link to stream the broadcast if anyone is interested. I can't wait to hear the chilling sounds on Halloween night.
The coolest part about it all? It's intended for the Trick-or-Treaters. They have set the time for 6-8pm in order to let people play it while the kids are out collecting candy. This station actually cares and gets creative. Granted, ToT in my town is on the Saturday before Halloween (as it should be everywhere) but I know other towns hold their ToT night on Halloween night.
I just had to post about this. It made me so happy to hear a local radio station doing something FOR US on Halloween. Very cool of them. I just wish it was longer than 2 hours.

Chilling Mysteries
Growing up I thought the show Unsolved Mysteries was awesome. Every now and then there would be a feature on a ghost or ufo and that would highlight my day as a kid. However, I could never bear to watch the show in the dark and alone for one reason. No, not the content of the show. The music. When Robert Stack came on it sent chills down my spine. His voice and his eyes creeped me out. Then, add the theme song to the background and I was simply terrified. This music, to this day, still creeps me out and I think it's an awesome song for the season.

Merry Chri..... Wait....
This makes me sick to my stomach. This screen shot was taken yesterday.
I have checked their site (along with all the other shopping sites) just to see if they have done up a special Halloween site design/logo/theme/etc. I am a fan of the logo change and mini-sites that websites and companies do up each year and scour the web in hopes of finding some cool ones. Well, QVC failed to deliver all of September and had me thinking they'd wait to post it October 1st. Obviously October 1st came and went and nothing showed up.
I check back, just for fun, yesterday and there it is. The giant letters, in red, spelling JOY. Underneath, Christmas. Christmas trees, two of them, right on the front page. It's mid-October.
Depressing.

All Eyes On You
I am fascinated with bust carvings and admire their beauty, but they also creep me out a little. One of my fears is being in a dim-lit room, by myself, that is filled with ancient bust sculptures lining the walls.

Rainy Night
This is a video of the jazz band Medeski, Martin & Wood. One of my favorite bands. The only reason I feel it necessary to post this is because the song is very autumn-friendly, in my mind. Has a nice, laid back atmosphere like a cool, breezy night in October.

Let Them Fear
I always get a little spooked by these types of statues/sculptures. I can't explain it. The faces don't really scare me, it's something else that I don't even know myself.

Friendly Reminder
The Walking Dead, season 2, will be on tomorrow night at 9 pm eastern. Set the DVR, get the popcorn ready... do whatever it is you have to do to make sure you see this season. I've heard that the presence of our undead friends will be much heavier in this season.
Personally, I'm extremely happy that the season is starting mid-October rather than Halloween night like it did last year. Gives us much more time to enjoy the series and remain in the Halloween mood instead of waiting for Thanksgiving.

Spooks
Friday the 14th. Almost. The next one in October will be 2017. On a fun note, my birthday falls on a Friday the 13th next year. Fun fact: I was born on a Friday the 13th. I guess I was destined for Halloween fandom.

Bummer
I just doesn't feel like October to me. I guess classes/exams taking a lot of my time up and the stress of switching vehicles and a nagging injury which is preventing me from doing the things I love has made the beginning of October a bummer for me. Not to mention it's almost like Halloween is dead (in a bad way) around my town. I'm sure it's just the downer mood I've been in and being unable to relax and enjoy the weather/festive feelings. Well, this wallpaper kind of cheers me up and brings me back... a little. Click to view full size.

Hysteria In Salem
Here is an old, yet cool, interactive website put up by National Geographic depicting you, the visitor, as being in Salem during the witch hunt/trials. As a builder of websites I really appreciate the work and effort they put into this site. Remember, this site was put together quite some time ago and the level of creativity put into it for a website of that time is really cool.

Braaiiinnss...er...Cooookkkiiess
Check this cookie jar out. It'd be perfect for a Halloween house decoration. However, I think it'd serve it's purpose best outside on the porch holding candy for the ToTers to pull their treats from. Of course, you'd have to be vigilant for any jerks who want to ruin the night by smashing things.

Let's kick off October the right way with a great tune to have playing in the background of your party, prop building, yard set up, blog writing, etc.

Happy October 1st
A lot to go over here so let's just get down to it:
1. Planned on waiting a little while before redesigning the site again but I couldn't help it. Obviously, the site now has a new look. Simple layout, slightly vintage look and very Halloween-like. It's good to have the familiar black and orange back on the site.
2. NecroTV is now ready with 4 different shows. Use the link at the top of the site to visit the page and select which show you'd like to watch. I'll be changing them fairly regularly so be sure to watch them while you have the chance.
3. What was the third thing........
......Oh yeah! HAPPY OCTOBER! It's here and I feel like the site is kicking it off in a good way. New look, new features, etc. I hope this month is frightfully fantastic for you all and be sure to check back for a lot of updates throughout October.

What Are You Smiling At?
Remember those bags? EASY decorations. Just stuff them with the free leaves that fall to your yard each year. It's a bit of a bummer to see that these have lost popularity. They have in my neck of the woods, at least. Are these icons of Halloween on their way to vintage status or do you still see them commonly around town?
P.S. That whole bit about not redesigning the site might have been a lie. I was inspired by the change in the weather and the start of fall and got to work on a little something. Not sure when it will launch, but it might be way sooner than I expected.
Official
Today is, officially, the first day of Autumn. Yeah yeah, it's been here for weeks if you ask us Halloween nuts. Regardless, I can't help but feel a little excited knowing that it's "official" now. Here is a song that I find absolutely perfect for the fall season. Let us rejoice as nature ushers in another wonderful autumnal equinox.

Time To Choose
You know the packages of candy corn that come with the pumpkin shaped pieces? Well, for some reason, I think those have a different taste than the normal candy corn pieces. What do you think? Are the pumpkin pieces better, not as good, or do you think they taste the same?

Teenie Halloweenies
More of these wonderful pieces of art can be found here.
Unfortunately, they are all in the outdated 1024x768 wallpaper size so they are more or less just cool pictures now.
NecroTV
NecroTV is now running in a pilot test mode. If you click the link in the yellow box above, you will be able to view a single episode of Home Improvement's Halloween special "Bewitched." Again, this is a test run which is why there is only one video available. Once all the kinks get worked out more videos will be added and changed. Please leave a comment if you find anything not working or if you want to give any kind of feedback about it whatsoever.

Dead Runner
If you're looking for a new app to distract you from life for a few moments, Dead Runner might be a good choice. It's a simple app that doesn't have a ton of re-playability, but it's a good one for quick bouts of boredom or when in a waiting room or something. Since I don't feel like giving a review of the gameplay, I'll show you a video that does as it will also introduce you to the look and feel of the game.
The background music and the idea of running from an unknown presence makes this the perfect Halloween app. Ominous, creepy and fun. Check it out in the app store:

Just Like That
And just like that the weather turned. Check out the current temperature and condition for my area:
60 degrees and cloudy. Today is pretty much jeans and sweatshirt weather which reminds me of Halloween and autumn more than anything.
So, I feel obligated to throw on some tunes to really get the mood right. Here's The Puppet Master theme song.

And So It Begins
Today marks the beginning of the Halloween season. At least to me; I'm
sure many of you feel the same. September 1st marks the beginning
of Autumn, again, in my own mind. Despite the weather or what the
calendar might have you believe, Halloween fans will tell you that
September 1st is the beginning of the excitement.
I woke up to a pleasant rain and a dark sky this morning. Just one of the familiar sights of this time of year in Ohio.
Expect more posts to come in on a semi-regular basis and the debut of NecroTV sometime in the coming weeks.

NecroTV
Since I redesigned the site earlier this year, I won't be changing the look for the approaching Halloween season. However, I will be adding some new features to the site. The hope is to have "NecroTV" ready by September 1st. It will be updated with a revolving door of Halloween specials for sitcoms and cartoons and maybe even a full movie or two. Again, this is only in the planning stages right now and not a promise.
So, with that said, what kind of shows would you like to see? Have a favorite sitcom special or cartoon you'd like to see on here?

Button Pushers
Here is a video from one of my favorite bands, Stolen Babies. The song is called "Push Button." Their musical style and the art in the video seemed quite appropriate for a mention on here. Go buy their album There Be Squabbles Ahead because it's really, really good.

The Halloween Tree(s)
I've always been intrigued by bonsai trees. So much so that I recently purchased one and have it sitting, peacefully, on my desk. I've been thinking, since they are only miniature versions of real trees, they shouldn't be left out on the decorating fun of Halloween. Well, knowing I couldn't be the only one thinking that, I did a quick search for something of interest. Below are some of my favorites so far:
Absolutely brilliant. The empty tree with the painting in the background is perfect. To view more visit The Art of Bonsai Project.

Open Your Gates!
One of the bigger haunted attractions located (somewhat) close to me is the Land of Illusion. It's set up as one of those "parks" with multiple houses/mazes/etc. I am excited to know that it opens September 2nd! That gives PLENTY of time to attend at least once this year.
That's one of my gripes with haunted attractions. They are typically only open through the month of October with maybe a single weekend in September. It's virtually impossible to get to more than one attraction in a single night and you can't expect to go to a different one every weekend.
I always get a feeling of "time is running out" half way through October and I've been to only one, if any at all, each year. So, with that said, thank you Land of Illusion!

Munsters Remake
NBC is apparently giving the revamp of The Munsters a second chance. Here's what the claim is:
This isn't your mummy's The Munsters. While the original was a half-hour sitcom about blue collar Monster-Americans, Fuller's take on The Munsters will be an edgier, slightly darker hour-long show. Fuller is expected to more deeply explore the origins of how the residents of 1313 Mockingbird Lane came to be.
Hour-long episodes? Seems like it might work, but it might also botch the whole Munsters image. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Click here for the full read.
It'll Give Them To Ya
Being only 21, I get a little more excited about this than maybe the younger or older crowds (as this was heavily apart of my childhood). While that may be the case, it can still be enjoyed by everyone. I mean, we have all had them and will likely get them sometime soon for any number of reasons. What could it possibly be???
GOOSEBUMPS!
It's back on TV. Starting September 6th which will mark the beginning of it's weekday run of Mon-Thur at 5:30pm ET. It will be on a channel called The Hub.
I'm ecstatic because the last time Goosebumps was syndicated, it was on Cartoon Network on Friday nights only for the month of October and parts of September and November a few years ago. In reality, I think I am so happy simply because it will remind me of when I was a kid and came home to watch tv shows throughout the week (especially in the fall nearing Halloween). I can sort of relive it. And the Goosebumps shows were pretty good for the most part. Just another spark to the Halloween flame.
You can read more about the press release here.

It's Coming
Today marks the beginning of the Great Cool Down. In my area it is finally cooling off. Well, the humidity is anyways. Temps are still high, but it feels better nonetheless. The taste of Autumn and Halloween are slowly creeping towards my tongue as I, and all the other fall fanatics, eagerly await their arrival.
Stores are beginning to fill small sections with the oranges, browns, maizes and blacks we all know and love. Online shops such as Grandin Road have launched their Halloween mini-sites featuring plenty of props and trinkets for us to consume and enjoy.
Not much to this post other than the fact that my excitement is starting to build. I'm sure you are all feeling the same as well. Look for plenty of goodies such as music, videos, wallpapers, etc. in the coming weeks.

Sir, I Suggest You Remain Silent About What You Saw
Zombie walks are fun and all, but you have to admit, they are getting old and played out. I love the idea of groups of like minded people joining up to do creative things, though. So the format is perfect, but the theme is tired. Here's my idea:
Men in Black. A bunch of people spread out through cities and towns dressed in the typical M.I.B. style. All stone-faced, virtually silent, mysteriously hovering around. Possibly going door to door and asking if the residents witnessed anything out of the norm recently. Of course, we wouldn't want to incite a panic or get into any serious trouble with law enforcement(or would we?).
Imagine waking up and heading to your car and seeing a man or a couple men in black suits standing around in different areas. It would give an eerie presence due to the mystery and unknowing the general public would experience.
It'd be a bad idea to bunch a lot of people dressed as M.I.B. in one area because that would make it entirely unbelievable. This kind of "mob" outing would have to be done in small numbers, but maybe high amounts of different locations. I think it would work brilliantly. At least a few phone calls to the local police stations demanding answers to what was going on.
Just another idea for some Halloween fun. This, of course, could be done at any time of the year. Speaking of ideas, I'm working on a little project that I hope will work out. If it doesn't, you'll never hear about it. If it does, you'll know in due time.
Apologies to all owners of these images for not giving credit. I found them on Google images and did not have time to seek out owner names or links.
